Announced yesterday, NBC ordered a pilot episode for Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt’s supernatural western comic series, The Sixth Gun. The TV project is helmed by “Lost” producing veteran, Carlton Cuse. “The Sixth Gun” was previously set to be a miniseries with Syfy, but has since changed over to potential full series.
The comic book follows the tale of six magical pistols, each of which holds a mysterious power. The sixth gun is the most dangerous of the bunch and it has recently resurfaced in the hands of an innocent girl. Evil gunslingers are out to get their paws on the pistols, and only the cowboy to stand against them is Drake Sinclair. You can read the entire first issue at Robot 6.
Ryan Condal will write the pilot. Eric Gitter and Andy Borne of Closed on Mondays, the sister company of Oni Press, are executive prodcing.
Cuse, who was co-showrunner on “Lost” with Damon Lindelof.
