Just saw this earlier tonight on IMAX, thought it was a total BLAST !!! Total fun movie, and the CGI was actually very well done when used.

this poster for some reason reminds me of the EVIL DEAD 2013 poster. i don’t really care for that one and i’m not loving or hating this H&G one.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was such a fun pop-corn movie to watch…it got more interesting as it went on. Lots of Gore…lots of action….great SFX and hot chicks (Gretel and the Redhead who was Hansel’s love interest).

This movie really went all out on gore and blood. If you go in with a mind to have fun….this movie will deliver. Famke Jansen was pretty good as the Witch leader too.

The pacing of the movie was great, except for a slower paced scene where a childhood flashback/memory chat between Hansel & Gretel takes place in the third act of the movie…but it was pretty short…then the pace picks up again.

If there is ONE movie this movie reminds me of…and has the same retro-cool design elements….it is Van Helsing (in fact Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing and his female partner are very similar to the pairing of Hansel & Gretel as these Monster Bounty Hunters, except that H&G focus on hunting witches (Hansel says: The only good witch…is a dead witch). There are a few good funny lines in this movie too. The movie really doesn’t take itself too seriously and just tried to have fun with the concept of H&G being these Bad-a$$ Bounty Witch Hunters.

Another cool relation to Van Helsing are all the cool (almost Steam-punk style) weapons used in the H&G movie…just like Helsing’s weapons.

Definitely check it out if you want a fun-ride check-your-senses at the door style action/comedy movie.
