[BD Review] Johnny Would Ride Into Another ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’

Now in theaters everywhere is Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola’s Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Thomas Mann, Derek Mears and Peter Stormare. In the film, after getting a taste for blood as children, Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton) have become the ultimate vigilantes, hell bent on retribution. Now, unbeknownst to them, Hansel and Gretel have become the hunted, and must face an evil far greater than witches…their past.

Not screened for critics, Jonny attended the midnight screening of the fun 3-D re-imagining of the classic fairy tale. As the film progressed, he loved it more and more:

At the start of the movie, I was expecting a waste of my time. By the middle, I found myself with a grin on my face. By the end, I was hoping that there would be a sequel. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters isn’t a movie meant to scare or make you think but it is one of the most entertaining and enjoyable movies of its kind that I’ve seen in years.” Check out the review in its entirety here.

Just saw this last night on IMAX, thought it was a total BLAST !!! Total fun movie, and the CGI was actually very well done when used.

Who would have thought? I had pretty much written his one off, I guess I need to change my plans now.

I just got back from seeing this, and thought is was really fun as well. I wanted to see it because I love Dead Snow, but became a little cautious after all the delays, that’s usually not a good sign, but went anyway with hope. I’m glad I did. It felt like a children’s movie for adults. If that makes sense.

Really liked it. I expected it to over do the cgi but it surprisingly stayed with mostly practical effects. I expected the witches to be very I Am Legendy and glad they weren’t at all. Great fun action movie that brings a nice touch of core and some really cool fun kills.

I loved this movie so much. I basically feel the same way, Jonny. It left me wanting more and that’s definitely a good thing. Not many movies nowadays make me feel that way. It was just an all-around great film.
