Cinedigm and Voltage Pictures are partnering on a three-year, five-picture output deal with newly minted genre label Rapid Eye Film, says Screen Daily.
Founded by filmmaker Marco Weber, Rapid Eye will develop, finance and produce the films, and Cinedigm will provide a U.S. theatrical release plus VOD, digital, TV and DVD. Nic Chartier’s Voltage Pictures will handle international sales.
Weber’s sci-fi thriller Unraveling, described as a cross of Angel Heart and Seven, is the first title covered under the partnership. Casting is under way with Weber directing from his own schpt and producing alongside his longtime producing partner Vanessa Coifman (A Late Quartet) and Miggel Schwickerath (The Informers).
Unraveling will shoot in Los Angeles this spring.
