I Hope You’re Sitting Down, Because Deep Silver Just Announced That ‘Dead Island’ Has Passed Five Million Sold

That’s right, you read that headline correctly. Techland and Deep Silver’s post-apocalyptic zombie butt-whooping game Dead Island has sold over five million units at retail and through digital distribution. To put that in perspective, that’s more than the combined sales of both games in the similarly themed Dead Rising franchise. That’s very impressive, especially for a new IP. Dead Island was flawed, especially when it came to making good on the promise to bring us an emotional, story-driven experience, but it was also damn fun. It’s pseudo-sequel, Dead Island: Riptide, releases on April 23.
