Screen Media will be showcasing the Premiere release of the Coffin Joe Cult Collection on VOD in North America.
The Coffin Joe Cult Collection includes the most widely known films by Director Jose Mojica Marins – widely regarded as the Luis Bunuel of Auteur Horror. Featuring the maniacally evil character Coffin Joe, first introduced in Brazil in the 1960s and 70’s, the Coffin Joe films broke out to a worldwide audience following both critical acclaim and the embrace of genre fans.
The release includes At Midnight I’ll Take Your Soul (1963), This Night I’ll Possess Your Corpse (1967), and Embodiment of Evil (2008).
“We are delighted that Screen Media will be handling the VOD release of this unique Collection, now available for the first time with new HD re-mastering,” says Betina Goldman Director of London based ONE EYED FILMS who negotiated the deal with Screen Media.
“Screen Media has a wide reach and great relationships in the digital space. We are extremely confident in their ability to position the Coffin Joe Cult Collection and to reach both the hardcore fans and the new generation that might be unfamiliar with the Coffin Joe films. Marin’s brand of horror continues to draw new audiences worldwide and we are delighted that Screen Media shares our vision of the films’ enduring potential”
“The Coffin Joe films are notorious among fans for their surreal mix of horror and the bizarre” says Gary Delfiner, President of Screen Media Digital, a division of Screen Media. “The showcasing of this cult collection on our horror platform Frightpix will make the channel even more of a destination for genre fans.” continues Delfiner. “We’re thrilled to be adding the Coffin Joe Cult Collection to our exclusive digital catalog and will also be rolling them out to iTunes and all the major digital channels.”
