A Brief Clip From Tomorrow’s ‘Carrie’ Trailer Makes Things Move!!

MGM and Screen Gems’ release the full trailer for their Carrie remake tomorrow, but Entertainment Tonight just aired a brief, high quality tease of it. Some of it looks cool, but I’m not sold on the floating books stuff. Maybe once I see it in the context of the whole trailer! Or… maybe once I see it in the context of the whole film! I roll old school sometimes.

In theaters October 18, the Kimberly Peirce-directed redo is “A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.” Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, Gabriella Wilde, Judy Greer and Portia Doubleday also star.

Head inside to check it out!

I Didn’t like the actress! But lets hope it will be a good movie!

what is it about her you don’t like.

I Dont know exactly! But i think she’s fake. Her
acting in the clip makes carrie sounds like a stupid teenage movie!

  • djblack1313

i know this is only barely a clip but what is in this clip i think looks pretty bad. i’m holding out judgement until the trailer drops but yeah, the floating books and the fact that Carrie and her mom look like everyday normal people and not shut in/bizarre-ish outcasts (Carrie in this is prettier than most girls who are the “popular” girls) is not a good thing. i liked Chloe in KICK ASS but i really don’t think she’s all that great an actress. her acting in the books floating scene looks really bad. i hope it’s just that scene/take.

but again, i’m not writing this off…yet! 🙂

But in the book it’s never said that Carrie or her mother are ugly. I mean, there is nothing wrong about their looks. They are weird by the way they dress and behave, otherwise they would be normal people. Actually, Carrie is said to be really pretty when she dresses up to the prom, what I interpreted as saying that she was a pretty girl, but did not show it before.
I can’t say if the film is going to go this way at all, but it could be well explained by the story in the book. =)

anezka you bring up a good point. i need to not be expecting this new version to be exactly like the original (one of my all time faves). VERY good point! 🙂

i really do want to like this! 🙂

DePalma’s film is gonna be a tough act to follow.

  • Zombie-Killa

Well, it’s only a matter of seconds, but it’s kind of silly at the same time. I mean, I’m happy they pushed it back to October, because Carrie better suited for a Halloweenish time release, but this clip is so “blah.” And she’s got talent, but I’m starting to question if Moretz was the right choice for this role. And I don’t like Julianne Moore. She pretty much ruined Hannibal for me.

    • djblack1313

      Zombie-Killa, i agree 100%.

Sorry my friend, but I don’t know how to do one on here properly. lol.

I like Julianne Moore and Chloe Moretz and Kimberly Peirce got lots of prizes with Boys Don’t Cry. But it is actually a different style of film, although it uses some of the same components. I’m thinking that because of her background, it may become something more drama-like than horror-like.
I don’t know about the books scene, but, in the book, Carrie does practise with normal stuff a lot before being able to control her powers.

Not sold on Chloe’s acting yet, I’m sure she’ll be very good though. I wasn’t sure how Emma Roberts was going to do in Scream 4 from the trailers but she ended up doing amazing.

I think the float books look pretty cool.

    • egaltt23

Emma Roberts was awesome in SCRE4M!

  • xXmissZombie

I’m already sure that I don’t like this movie at all.
Chloe cannot hold a candle to Sissy, she is missing that unique quality about her that makes Carrie such a chilling, yet beautiful outcast. This teaser seems like just another teen thriller, and Carrie was more than that.

    • djblack1313

xXmissZombie, that’s exactly how i feel too! well said.

I know it’s not a remake, it’s a different interpretation/adaptation of a novel, but it’s really hard not to think of De Palma’s film and comparing. I think the grittiness of his film worked like gangbusters and (going on 17 seconds of footage) this looks like it may be a cleaner cut, lighter movie. I could be wrong though.

You people crack me up. Judging a 17 second clip, are you serious? Whats with all the hate toward Chloe too? She’s arguably the best young actress working today. She has been great in everything from leading roles (Let Me In & Hick) to smaller parts (500 Days of Summer & Texas Killing Fields) She was also solid in Hugo and Dark Shadows. Her best part to date, playing Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass. She was the standout in that film and part 2 is right around the corner. She has also been surrounded by great directors and other fine actors and actresses, the people she has worked with so far in her young career is amazing. Now as far as Carrie goes I think she will nail it, just as she does with everything else. Im not judging this 17 second clip either, cause thats insane. I will wait for the full trailer before making a judgment.

  • DarrelDreadful

Its weird because in that picture of Chloe she looks creepy and chilling, but in that clip, everything was so bland and generic. The trailer comes out tomorrow, so I dont want to pass too much judgement, but so far.. not impressed. SN I dont know why but while I was watching – in my head – I kept saying this looks like a tv show not a movie (I guess because of the quality and how polished everything looked) lol cant wait to see the full trailer though.

  • BloodyBirthday

Film stills, teasers and posters for this remake leave me feeling nothing.

  • Taboo

    I like what I saw!

  • wehoaks

Bahahahahahahah it’s amazing how much stupidity and bashing can come from what amounts to 13 seconds of footage. Her acting called into question? Ahhh, I love the internet. Chloe’s acting on 30 Rock alone shows she is more talented than 99% of the actresses working today.

    • egaltt23

Thank you! I was getting ready to comment that haha

    • staindFAN

Somebody sees my point of view, thank you!

  • Spike0037

For the people complaining it’s Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to write the script for the new film with “a more faithful adaption” just set in 2013. And before you all say the set it 1979 well here is the answer you think today’s kids could relate to the bulling with out cell phones and computers. it just makes sence
