Announced at Wondercon, Jeff Lemire has a new 10-issue creator-owned series on the rise from Vertigo called Trillium. The series follows two storylines, the first of which is set in the year 3797 and scientist Nika Temsmith is researching a species of strange life forms on a remote science station near the outermost rim of colonized space. The second story goes back to 1921, and follows the war-scarred explorer William Pike in the jungles of Peru in search of the “Lost Temple of The Incas”. Somehow, the two cross paths, fall in love, and bring about the end of the world.
Lemire will be handling both writing and artwork for the entire series, including the fully painted first issue. “Trillium” #1 is set to debut in August.
From Lemire’s Blog: “Two disparate souls separated by thousands of years and hundreds of millions of miles. Yet they will fall in love and, as a result, bring about the end of the universe. Even though reality is unraveling all around them, nothing can pull them apart. This isn’t just a love story, it’s the last love story ever told.”
