The upcoming Leprous album Coal is one of my most anticipated records for this year. I was a huge fan of 2011’s Bilateral, placing it as my Album of the Year (alongside White Willow‘s Terminal Twilight). Their amazing songwriting capabilities and rich instrumentation made for an album that I find myself returning to over and over again.
Now the band has given fans a first taste of Coal by streaming a new song entitled “Chronic”, which you can listen to below.
Singer/synth-player Einar Solberg comments about the song: “We’re delighted to finally be able to give you the first taste of our upcoming album ‘Coal’! ‘Coal’ is a melancholic, soulful and very dynamic album. Where ‘Bilateral’ was playful and ‘in-your face’, ‘Coal’ is subtle and floating. ‘Chronic’ however, is of the more dynamic songs of the album. With a heavy basis, the song pinches a nerve Leprous has never before explored.”
Coal comes out May 28th in N. America (May 20th in Europe) via InsideOut Music.
