Teaser Posters For ‘R.I.P.D.,’ ‘Oldboy’ and ‘Insidious Chapter 2′

insidious-2

Out of the CinemaCon starting tomorrow in Las Vegas comes teaser logo posters for a trio of upcoming genre films.

The Insidious Chapter 2 looks like the film’s first logo, only with the letter “S” forming a “2″. In theaters September 13, Oscar-nominated Barbara Hershey will play the role of Lorraine Lambert, the mother to Patrick Wilson’s Josh Lambert and the grandmother to the demon-possessed boy Dalton. Directed by James Wan, who was recently attached to the next Fast & Furious installment, the pic also stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson, Andrew Astor, Jocelin Donahue, and Danielle Bisutti.

I quite enjoy FilmDistrict’s Oldboy tease, which scratches out the number of days before the protag. is released from prison. In theaters October 11, the film stars Josh Bolin as an advertising executive who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 20 years without explanation. He is abruptly released and sets out to discover the who and why of his captivity, running across a social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson and James Ransone.

Just added is also a look at the poster for Uni’s R.I.P.D., Robert Schwentke’s troubles comic adaptation in theaters July 19. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak and Mary-Louise Parker, it follows a recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him.

The ‘Insidiou2 Chapter Two’ thing really bothers me, there is no need for more than one variation of “2″ in the title. For some reason I see Spike Lee’s name on ‘Oldboy’ and think it could be alright, then I realize he really hasn’t made a single movie that I liked (I got some enjoyment out of ‘Inside Man’ I guess). Actually I think he’s a pretty awful director (see: ‘Miracle at St. Anna).

Agreed on everything, Aaron, and I really can’t stand Spike Lee behind the camera. I saw Miracle at St.Anna in theaters years ago, and the boredom put me to sleep at least three times!

OKAY posters, but the Insidious ones really don’t do anything for me.

Summer Of Sam was pretty cool.. other than that i’m not much into Spike lee myself… I mite go see two of these movies.. i’m guessing R.I.P.D. is gonna be a mess… just because Universal is involved… they seem to go for friendly horror type stuff.. and it never seems to work out

I still can get over the fact that ‘OldBoy’ is being remade by that talentless hack. I can name 10 directors of the top of my head that have had more successful film careers that would have really created something special. Knowing Lee, the movie will end up being “Madea’s Break’s out of solitary” or some equally asinine tripe. Someone needs to tell him that he has no talent.

I know right! You’d think they would get a better director to remake an amazing movie.

The problem is most good directors are too busy working on real projects (read: not remaking classic foreign genre films)

          Oh gawd this.

  • DeadManZombieFan

I smell a stinker in R.I.P.D. just catching that vibe by the poster alone but then again maybe thats because the poster has ryan reynolds in it and he well… he kinda sucks…

    • Milk

      Only kinda?

  • horrorking95

Boo to the Oldboy remake! Although, I do quite like this teaser, I think it’s going to completely flop.

The first two poster, in particular the Insidious one are PARTICULARLY bland. Maybe its after the amazing your next ones but writing the title in a nice font is not a poster.
I also hate the oldboy remake with a passion because there is no way it will be as good as the original without completely ripping it.
