Universal Pictures’ R.I.P.D. is aiming for a July 19th release and has started their hype machine. The official trailer just hit, and I’m sort of confused as to how I feel about it. I expected something that felt a little bit Men In Black, but I didn’t expect it to feel THIS much like it! I also don’t know how I feel about Jeff Bridges reprising the Rooster Cogburn accent from True Grit.

Robert Schwentke directs the Dark Horse Comics adaptation in which a recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, James Hong, Robert Knepper and Tobias Segal star.

Head inside to check it out, and lemme know what you think. We’ve also added a gallery of new images.

It’s looks kinda fun, and like Men in Black.

I agree. It definitely feels like MIB, but with a little more edge maybe? These are definitely the types of roles that suit Ryan Reynolds though in my opinion.

looks fun, and no will smith is always a plus. I love the sexy chick joke xD

Cool! It looks like a fun action comedy, and I’m digging the MIB vibe. Glad Reynolds is in another comedy role, because his more serious stuff gives me a headache.

I will say that aside from that big fat fucker near the end the effects seem fairly well done. I still hate the poster, I still hate Ryan Reynolds, and I still hate admitting I could be wrong. It looks like it could be fun, I also dislike (read: almost hate) ‘Men in Black’, I only saw the first one and didn’t get why it’s so loved. Again, this looks like it could end up being kinda fun.

Good for a popcorn flick and a laugh

Looks decent and Bridges with Reynolds seem to have good chemistry! However, I hate the MIB vibe – it is too bloody similar – they are hiding as humans, if they get shot, they exploded, and the CGI villains…ruined it for me. Nevertheless, the chick jokes are hilarious and the ” I do not know where to shoot you between” is a classic line in my book ^_^ Verdict – seeing this!

Bit disappointed by the MIB silly vibe this has. I was hoping for something a touch more horror and less comedy.

Looks entertaining for sure. Will definitely check it out. I mean come on, its Wild Bill killing dead folks. If Jeff Bridges pulls out a joint it will definitely be epic.
