MGM and Screen Gems are prepping their Carrie remake for release later this year and a new still has emerged featuring Mrs. White taking her daughter home from school.

In theaters October 18, the Kimberly Peirce-directed redo is “A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.” Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, Gabriella Wilde, Judy Greer and Portia Doubleday also star.

With all the complaining about Chloe Moretz as Carrie I have to say it’s Julianne Moore that feels more out of place. I love her as an actress and was excited to see her cast, but from the small amount of footage I have seen I’m not liking the character too much.
Chloe on the other hand seems okay, a lot of the backlash has been because it is a pretty girl playing Carrie. Being pretty doesn’t automatically mean that you fit in. With the whacked out mother, the dirty clothes and awkward personality she is bound to not fit in.

THANK YOU! I’m in high school and there are lots of good looking girls that aren’t in the popular group. Being pretty isn’t a ticket into parties and stuff, personality counts a lot more now then when it did a while ago, I guess.

I think Chloe will nail it, cause let me tell you, if a girl came to school dressed like that NOBODY would talk to her. The “losers” probably wouldn’t even.

i agree! i graduated in 2012, and there was some gorgeous girls that were in school that wernt really on the “popular” side. like nick ^ said. being pretty dosent get you where you wanna be in high school. chloe is a badass actress, very stunning and im looking forward to see her nail this role. carrie is a classic, and i clould not see anyone else playing this role. i wish her the best!

To anybody saying that Chloe is too pretty to play Carrie, I have two words for you: Mean Girls. Watch it, and then try to tell me that being hot makes you immune from getting mercilessly bullied.

That said, I’m afraid that Chloe may be typecast as “weird” characters if she doesn’t put a bit more. I’m still excited for this, but she should consider putting some more variety into her role choices.

Collider made the same mistake with these new images. One of them is from Let Me In and not Carrie. Way to go!

Eh, sorry, but the pic Evan posted can’t hold my attention, because I can’t take my eyes off of the header pic for the article! lol.

Creepy stuff, Moretz has the perfect “don’t mess with me, or you’ll be sorry!” look on her face. Still not excited for the movie, though. The first full trailer didn’t do anything for me, like at all.
