5 Great Lines From ‘House Of 1,000 Corpses’!!!

While I may not be the biggest fan of most of Rob Zombie‘s movies, I can’t deny that there are some fantastic, quote worthy lines throughout his films. They’re sharp, often hilarious, and have no subtlety whatsoever.

With The Lords Of Salem expanding into additional theaters this weekend, I thought I’d take a look back at Zombie’s first film, House Of 1,000 Corpses, which shocked and divided audiences upon its release. But whether or not you liked the film you have to admit that there were some truly entertaining moments. So head on down to see which five lines I loved the most from HO1K!

WARNING: I shouldn’t have to say this but there is some seriously strong language below. Have fun!

Fuck your momma! Fuck your sister! Fuck your grandma! Most of all, fuck you! Goddamn mother fucker got blood all over my best clown suit.

If ever there was an opening sequence that perfectly set up what the rest of the film was to bring, House of 1,000 Corpses nailed it. The insanity of the first five minutes gave us gore, violence, and wildly inappropriate dialogue and got my full attention.

Boy, I bet you’d stick your head in a fire if I told you-you could see Hell. Meanwhile, you’re too stupid to realize you got a demon sticking out your ass singing, “Holy miss moley, got me a live one!

There is something so deliciously sinister about this moment. Otis has just confirmed that nothing but pain and misery is about to descend upon the protagonists and, just as he states, they’re too stupid to realize it. Even if they did, it’s too late.

We like to get fucked up and do fucked up shit, you know what I mean?

When Baby says this line at Red Hot Pussy Liquor, we the audience already know of the horrible things that Baby has done and we have a pretty damn good idea of what she’s about to do. So while Goober is thinking “fucked up shit” means one thing, we know that it means something else entirely. “Fucked up shit” indeed.

It’s all real. The boogeyman is real…and you found him.

Perhaps one of the greatest lines in horror and I will stand by that statement. Otis cuts through it all and dashes any hopes of salvation. This isn’t a dream, this isn’t a hallucination. You aren’t going to wake up safe and sound in your bed. This pain and terror is entirely real and you cannot escape. And it was all because of your own fascination with all things dark and macabre. Your journey brought you to my doorstep and I’m here to give you exactly what you want.

Listen, you Malibu middle-class Barbie piece of shit, I’m tryin’ to work here!

To say that I always get a small sense of satisfaction when Otis snarls this line is an understatement. Yes, I feel sorry for every victim in the film. But the number of times I wanted to say this line to some stuck up person who thinks that they’re better than me simply because of their upbringing…well, let’s just say I lost count years ago.

Alright readers, think I missed any lines? While we’re at it, what are some of your favorites from HO1K? Let me know in the comments below!

I love this movie. I don’t care what anyone says. It’s dark, twisted, funny, and shocking in all the right places. This was a great article, Jonathan. I have to say one of my favorite lines in this movie is when Otis tells the girls something like, “Did I ruin your day?” It hit me hard because it made me think about how easy we as people take life and good things for granted.

    • JonathanBarkan

For as over-the-top as the movie is, it can be genuinely horrifying. The extremely long crane shot where Otis FINALLY shoots the deputy in the head? I was holding my breath the entire time because I was sure the character must’ve felt like every second the gun was aimed at him was the longest, most terrifying second of his life.

        Me too! Great scene!

        • ThunderDragoon

          I agree. That was great.

    • coldblood

I love this movie also. The critics really ragged on it and shouldn’t have. I saw it in a packed theater on its opening night and everybody went nuts (in a good way).

  • doomas10

Last one is by far my favourite! Say anything you want about Rob Zombie but the man created an iconic serial killer family and YES they have great one liners!

  • russellg79

“It’s all real. The boogeyman is real…and you found him.” is so perfectly followed up in The Devil’s Rejects by “I am the devil, and I am here to do the devil’s work. I love how both of these movies are so different yet feel so familiar. Great article.

  • russellg79

I know this one is from Devil’s Rejects but this line pretty much sums up both movies and is my personal favorite.

What’s the matter, kid? Don’t ya like clowns?

Why? Don’t we make ya laugh? Aren’t we fuckin’ funny? You best come up with an answer, cos I’m gonna come back here and check on you and your momma and if you ain’t got a reason why you hate clowns, I’m gonna kill your whole fucking family.

    • kevnk

i love that line, gets me laughing out loud every time!

  • twoheaded

‘There aint a whole lot of shit you can do with Scene Selections, is they?’

  • evenscarier

Anything Sid Haig says brings me a great deal of joy, but “Shit the bed!” cracks me up everytime it comes to mind.

  • wildgator25

I absolutely loved this movie! I can still remember walking out of the theater on opening day and feeling like mocking Chris Hardwick’s character, “Doctor Satan! Ahhhh!”, lol. I could not wait for the movie to come out on DVD so that I could purchase and watch over and over again. Simply outstanding!

  • Skull-And-Crossbones

good list. there were so many great one liners but one of the ones that stands out the most to me was the first one on this list. it almost seems like a line to make teenagers laugh but the way sid haig pulls it off makes me laugh and im 27. and i completely agree that that whole sequence perfectly set the tone for the rest of the movie. and several of otis’ lines including the ones mentioned resinated a bit because it gave you the sense that maybe these “dumb rednecks” weren’t so dumb after all – just completely bat shit crazy which made it even scarier IMO

  • coldblood

How bad is it that my favorite line from this movie is “Well, shit the bed!”?
I mean I love the whole movie but for some reason that line has stuck with me the most.

  • bdskull419

I thought that Devil’s Rejects had more lines. Few of my faves:
Otis: “You know Hoss, I think I can still smell your wife’s pussy stink on my gun. Hope it doesn’t rust the barrel.” and then he asks the other guy “Does she like it when you puke?”
And the way the camera zooms on Captain Spaulding’s face when he says “Do I stutter bitch?” is priceless.

  • HMH

“Buddy, look around. Would I be surprised?”

  • GoreFaceSupreme

Hate to be that picky asshole guy, but because this is one of my favourite horror films, the correct line is, “It’s all TRUE, the boogeyman is real, and you found him.”

As you’re saying it’s one of your fave lines in all of horror, you best get it 100%.

  • flesheater24

This movie owns. 🙂 I have to revist it

  • Raziel_cz

I hope you will pick up some great lines frome the Devils Rejects too, because… you know, “tutti-fucking-fruiti!”
