‘Inside’ and ‘Livide’ Directors Turn To Crowdsourcing For ‘Among the Living’

It looks like crowdsourcing has won the war, and it’s time I admit there’s a lot of good that can be done with it. Sure, it annoys me when big studios or rich actors use it to finance projects, but ultimately it’s in the fan’s court to decide what they want to spend their money on. I think the biggest difficulty I’ll have here on Bloody is deciding what to post; I mean, I can’t possible report on them all. I guess the best thing to do is take it case by case, and then make a decision.

I’m a bit perplexed as to why Julien Maury & Alexandre Bustillo, directors of the insanely popular French horror films Inside and Livide, are using crowdsourcing when they could have had their pick of projects here in the States. I guess having your fans pre-pay is a way to get immediate control – not to mention deliver the content to the fans without having to go through unreliable middle men like the Weinstein Company (we still don’t have Livide here in the States!). With this, the French filmmaking duo can make their movie and then give it to you, directly, immediately. I like this.

I’d like to take your attention to this crowdsource page, which is asking fans to get in on Among the Living, which stars Chloe Coulloud, Lannick Gautry, Francis Renaud, and Inside‘s Beatrice Dalle (pictured above).

“Living turns on three youngsters who skip school, wander around an abandoned amusement park and suddenly see a woman in chains being dragged through a field by a man in a clown’s mask. Worse still, the masked man catches a glimpse of the boys.

Shooting begins June 3 via Metaluna Productions.

Inside was insanely cool, Livide was pretty cool. So this flick I will keep my eyes open for.

Sounds cool, i love Inside and Livide and i’d love to see the “clown as villain” be done in a cool, scary fashion.

I remember reading the synopsis on here (think it was here) a long time ago. Sounds pretty cool!

i’m definitely in!! i love INSIDE and do enjoy LIVID as well! i’m not sure about this “crowdsourcing” thing though. so what if one donates/pre-pays and then the movie doesn’t come to fruition? what happens to the $$$ then?

Maybe they resorted to crowdsourcing because they only got boring horror remakes offered to make in the US.

If I was a rich old man I’d definitely give them some money! I think Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are two of the most important young horror writers/directors today. I’ve never known intensity like Inside, and Livid was an exceptionally well-made, beautiful and wonderfully strange tale to treasure. This looks like it could be bloody amazing! May they keep making horror films for many years to come!
