My Chemical Romace’s Gerard Way Bring ‘The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’ To Dark Horse

Many of you were saddened by the news that My Chemical Romance decided to call the quits this March. Though I listen to My Chemical Romance from time to time, I am quite stoked about the break up because it means Gerard Way will have more time to write comics. Back in 2008, Way penned “Umbrella Academy”, which received praise across the board. Now, Way is back at Dark Horse with Shaun Simon and Becky Cloonan for “The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys”.

The first issue hits on June 6th, 2013.

In My Chemical Romance’s album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, the Killjoys fought against the megacorporation Better Living Industries. It cost them their lives, save for one—the mysterious Girl. Now, the followers of the original Killjoys languish in the desert while BLI strips citizens of their individuality. As the fight for freedom fades, it’s left to the Girl to bring them down.

It’s already off to a great start with the Free Comic Book Day issue. Becky Cloonan’s art is AMAZING.
