Exoskeleton Aims To Transform Gaming Into A Full Body Experience

No, the guy you see in the above picture isn’t halfway through donning his Batman cosplay — it’s actually a gaming bodysuit called the As Real As It Gets, or ARAIG. Its developer just launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of receiving $900,000 in funding so they can take this concept to the mass market. Supposedly, it will work with every console, game, or peripheral, and it comes with a built-in mic and surround sound speakers. If you want one of these for yourself you’re going to have to drop $299, but can you really put a price on finally being able to know what it feels like when a crazed homeless man stabs you in the kidney with a broken bottle in Condemned? Usually you have to visit Detroit for that kind of experience. That’s priceless.

If their campaign is successful they’re looking to get these bad boys out in December 2014. Learn more about them after the jump.

When I play shooters I tend to take the ‘bullet sponge’ approach — I mean I’m awful at them — so I really can’t wait to wear one of these during a Halo marathon so my roommates can come home to find me on the floor writhing in pain.

I kid, it looks neat. It’s just another tool to help us immerse ourselves in the games we play, so I’m all for it. What do you think? Is this something you’d be interested in?
