Anchor Bay Handling Halloween 35th Anniversary Blu With New Commentary!

John Carpenter’s Halloween is due for a 35th anniversary blu-ray release, but no one seems to be sure when, or from whom, it is coming. But it’s in the works and Jamie Lee Curtis is making an appearance on the new commentary. Hopefully it’s a loess fragmented and solipsistic track than last time around.

Update: Anchor Bay has announced that they’re handling! More details to come!

Carpenter commented on the Blu on Facebook, ““Just recorded a commentary track for it with Jamie Lee Curtis yesterday…

Starring Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nancy Kyes, P.J. Soles and Charles Cyphers, “a psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood escapes on a mindless rampage while his doctor chases him through the streets.

What other bonus features would you like to see?

On what Facebook page did this Carpenter quote appear?

It’d be cool to have both the newer transfer that was re-color timed and a restored hi def transfer with the original color timing. Personally, i like the original timing better as it helps enforce the illusion that the movie is supposed to be taking place in the fall and not in the spring.

If they really wanted to go hard they could do a “special” edition where they digitally turn all of the leaves and whatnot brown to make it truly look like fall time…but I aint’ holding my breath for that.

do people even buy these “special” releases? i hate it when companies do stuff like this just to milk the franchises even more. IMO they’re better off just making a whole documentary rather then just add a couple different special features. the only times i buy certain movies for a second time are because they were transferred to a new format. like when things switched from VHS to DVD and then DVD to blu-ray. and i only re-buy movies that i absolutely love.

I skipped out on the first Blu-ray release of this so I’ll take a chance and buy this one.

That’s cool! I guess I’ll have to add another disc to my limited Blu-Ray collection, because I still use DVDs as my primary source of media!

And I wonder when they’ll release a real Haloween box set. Something similar to the most recent Star Wars Blu-Ray set. You know, one that includes EVERYTHING. Rob zombie’s films, the originals, Resurrection, H20, everything.

I NEED this commentary! I already have Halloween on Blu-ray (the first Blu-ray disc I ever purchased, actually), but this alone makes it worth buying again. Have to say, I’m actually very surprised Jamie Lee Curtis returned for a commentary. It took a lot for her to star in Resurrection so I guess I just thought she was done with the franchise after that. I’m so happy that’s not the case.
