Here’s a bit of non-news that I’m actually excited to report on.
Personally, Louis Tully is my favorite character in the Ghostbusters franchise, which is why Rick Moranis’ return in Ghostbusters 3 is essential to my support.
Thankfully, he’s not opposed to making a return, he tells Empire in an insanely rare interview.
“I haven’t talked to Danny (Aykroyd) about it,” he tells the UK magazine. “Somebody he’s associated with called me and I said, ‘I wouldn’t not do it, but it’s got to be good.’ You know, I’m not interested in doing anything I’ve already done, and I thought the second one was a disappointment.
“But I guess I’m interested in where that guy is now. I sort of see him as being Bernie Madoff’s cellmate in jail. Both of them being so orderly that they race to get up and make their beds.”
I think he’s selling himself short, as his character could easily be one of the film’s driving forces.
And speaking of short…
If I had a time machine I’d go back and attempt to make a Rick Moranis/Martin Short buddy comedy. It’s one of the biggest mistakes this world has ever served us.
