UK rock band Anathema has announced a N. American co-headline tour with French band Alcest. Support will come from Mamiffer. This tour will be the first N. American tour for Anathema, with their only other gigs being two performances in 2001 and support for Blackfield as an acoustic duo. The band will be touring in support of their latest release Weather Systems (review). All tour dates can be found below.
The tour will come as the band releases a new live concert CD/DVD/Blu-Ray entitled Universal. Coming out on September 17th via Kscope and directed by Lasse Hoile (Porcupine Tree, Opeth), the concert was recorded at a one-off show at the ancient Roman theater of Philippopolis where the band was joined by the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra.
When I heard about this tour, this was my reaction. Seriously, I’ve been wanting to see Anathema for YEARS and it’s looking like it’s finally going to be a possibility. September 19th at the Machine Shop? I’ll be there.
