‘You’re Next’ Is Coming To Comic-Con!! Watch The Movie And Attend The Masters Of The Web Panel!!

Lionsgate will be bringing You’re Next, the much anticipated slasher from filmmaking duo Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett (A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S, V/H/S/2) to Comic-Con this year! I loved this movie, so I’m excited to announce that it will be screening Wednesday, July 17th at 9pm at the Reading Cinemas Gaslamp Theatre (followed by a John Campea moderated Q&A with Adam Wingard, Simon Barrett and star Sharni Vinson).

I’m also stoked to be a guest on the horror edition of the “Masters Of The Web” panel that’s happening in conjunction with the film. That’s right, you can throw soft objects at me if you want! That happens on Thursday, July 18 at 1130AM in room 24ABC. Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett will moderate the event. The full list of guests for the panel is as follows: Ryan Turek (, Evan Dickson (Bloody-Disgusting.Com), Grae Drake (RottenTomatoes.Com), Heather Wixson (DreadCentral.Com), Lawrence Raffel (, James “Jimmy O” Oster ( It’s hosted by John Campea (AMC Theatres). AMC is generously providing free movies passes to all attendees of the panel this year!

In theaters August 23, the film reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. “When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.” You can follow the film on its awesome Tumblr, as well as Facebook and Instagram.

We have FOUR tickets to giveaway! If you live in San Diego, or will be there for SDCC, leave a note in the comments telling us WHY you want to see the movie so bad! I’ll pick the winners within a week and notify them.

The only thing that i do not like about this, is the “you´re next” writing whith blood on the window. Is like a “I know what you did last summer” shit. The rest looks amazing. Love some home invasion horror. My favorites are Funny Games and Kidnapped (Spain).

looks lame. but im sure it will appeal to the parasitic, soulless, savage, bloodthirsty, losers out there who get off on watching snuff flicks where a bunch of losers only losers like you can relate to terrorize and murder innocent people….is it surprising that white people are the biggest consumers of shite like this? nah, with their history movies like this can do nothing but appeal to white people’s twisted psycho-sexual deviant love for violence, torture, and depravity.

      • DANTEarg

I rather relate myself with the innocent people….but whatever, go watch “Big Momma´s House” (a non white people shite that probably you will enjoy)

Home invasion horror movies are very unique to the genre, but the buzz I’ve been hearing from “You’re Next” has gotten me so excited in the past few weeks. I have a friend who saw the film at the Los Angeles Film Festival not too long ago, and he absolutely loved it.

      Great news!!!

I wanna see this movie so bad because I love home invasion flicks and The Purge didn’t quite do it for me. The critical consensus seems to be that this is a really entertaining movie, and the wikipedia description that says “…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all,” has my interest piqued. Me and my best friend are gonna be in town for sdcc this year, so it would be cool to go see this.

I really want to see this movie! Been waiting since last year and followed every news about! And I’ve never been at the reading cinemas or at the Gaslamp!

  • djblack1313

after hearing all the positive buzz for this i’m very excited for this (i am!) but i’m also really nervous that the movie won’t be able to live up to the buzz. i’m going to believe that it will live up to it! fingers crossed.

I saw this almost 2 years ago, and I’m more excited to see this again than I was going in the first time! Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe this movie.

San Diego Comic Con is all about having those experiences you will remember for a lifetime. Attending one of the best reviewed movies in my favorite genre before anyone else would be one of those experiences for me. I would love to attend this movie which, I understand, is one of the scariest, most original movies of its type in recent years. Thebuzz has had me excited for months and I would love to see if it lives up to its reputation. Thanks and I hope you have a ticket for me! 🙂

  • NatiRedGals

Heck yea! This movie is one of those movie’s to be able to ask the director how did he do that or why did he do this. This looks like a one a kind movie that can tack the trap genre to the next level. Seeing it first would just be a plus! Thanks guys Nathan Fisher

I’m so excited for this! My boyfriend and I are huge horror fans (I’m hoping to score him the NECA Jason exclusive and try to hide it for Christmas), and we’d love to see YOU’RE NEXT while we’re at Comic Con next month. I’m not one of those people who goes to horror movie,s because nothing scares me; I’m one of those people who goes to horror movies, because I AM TERRIFIED. YOU’RE NEXT looks like it’ll do the trick. I don’t plan on sleeping during Comic Con anyway, so I might as well kick off the weekend with something that would give me sleepless nights!!

    Fingers crossed…

Hope I win! Buddy of mine and I are Dying to check it out. We’ve been digging Adam wingard and Simon Barrett’s work so I definitely want to catch the Q&A. Will definitely be at their panel too!

I’m a 40 year old horror geek and my son is taking me to Comic Con this year! Just watched V/H/S/2 with him and we loved it! It would be great to take him to this screening, with Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett in attendance. Should be a blast!

  • bangbang10

Headed to SDCC for work! Time conflicts led me to miss You’re Next at SXSW and I would love nothing more than the chance to finally see this movie and soak up a little gore before reporting for gopher duty all weekend. This, and a NECA Jason exclusive in hand, could definitely make for the perfect Preview Night…

Entering for contest: My wife and I are huge horror buffs. Naturally, we are always looking for the next thrill. The masked-home invasion genre is exciting. Horror is elevated with what is unknown (hiding behind a mask). But perhaps what makes these films great is their realism–the possibility that such occurrences can happen. We’re so happy to live in San Diego and have the opportunity to host these screenings and panels in our city. We hope that you’ll consider us.

Would love to see this film with my brother before he ships out to the Navy in September. We’ve heard so much about it and enjoyed Adam Wingard’s contribution to the excellent V/H/S 2.

  • KWeinkam

Simply put, I want to see this film and would love to have the opportunity to hear the creators speak about their work.

My “sob story”, read only if you wish…

Just over a month ago my best friend (well one of two) tragically took his life. Our thing was horror films. Anytime there was an early screening of one, we would somehow find a way to get in and spent hours discussing it before and after. We are/were both huge horror and independent buffs and constantly searching for hidden gems. I’m still in the coping phase and its honestly quite tough. This film has come up in our conversations on many occasions and is on the “must see” list. I would love to go to this screening with Jack looking over my shoulder and hopefully smiling.

Thanks for your time and consideration. I am very much looking forward to seeing the film whether its at SDCC or at my local theatre!!

    “It´s only a movie, it´s only a movie, it´s only a movie, it´s only a movie…..”

  • Liquid-Mettle

Evan! I desperately want to see this movie and would kill (well, maybe not) for the chance to see it with you guys in San Diego. I’m not the luckiest guy in the world (I’ve only ever “won” a coloring contest in the local newspaper when I was 12 years old..) and would be so stoked to attend. This is your chance to change my luck, Evan. Grant an average Joe like myself the opportunity to see a wicked movie in the presence of such Masters of the Web as yourself, Ryan, Grae, Lawrence, and Jimmy . If you don’t, well — YOU’RE NEXT! .__.

Contest entry: I love this website, although I don’t try to win any of the contests. But I had to make an exception: I would LOVE 2 tickets to see You’re Next. I’ve been watching horror since the late 1970s, and I haven’t been this excited about an upcoming film in a while. I haven’t had the chance to see it at any of the festival showings, and I’ve tried to avoid reading about it to make the experience that much greater. If possible, seeing it at Comic-Cod would be one of the top 3 or 4 ultimate highlights for me. THANK YOU!
