Rockers The Pixies stunned the music world when they recently dropped “Bagboy”, their first new track in almost 10 years. Fans of the band began foaming at the mouths, hoping and praying that a new album and a new tour would be announced. Well, while I can’t confirm the former I can definitely confirm the latter!
The band has announced that they will be embarking on a massive worldwide tour that will begin in Europe this fall. As a result of Kim Deal recently leaving the band, bassist Kim Shattuck will be filling in those duties. Shattuck was the bassist for The Pandoras and then played guitar for pop-punk act The Muffs.
The band will be performing brand new tracks on this tour as well as never-before-heard-live tracks.
Black Francis comments, “Along with everyone’s favorites, we’ll be playing songs that we haven’t played in ages or never played live before/ Songs like ‘Brick is Red,’ ‘Havalina,’ ‘Tony’s Theme.’ and ‘Sad Punk.’ We’ve probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we’ll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it. We’re all really looking forward to this tour.”
