‘The Conjuring’ Writers Shake New Line With ‘San Andreas: 3D’

I’d love to see a solid earthquake thriller that’s not directed in the vein of a Roland Emmerich movie, which is why I have high hopes for this new project.

New Line has tapped The Conjuring writing team of Carey Hayes and Chad Hayes to pen earthquake disaster movie San Andreas: 3D, says Variety.

Story takes place when a massive quake strikes California and centers on one man who must make the treacherous journey across the state to rescue his estranged daughter.

Brad Peyton is attached to direct.

The San Andreas project has been in development since 2011 with New Line-based Beau Flynn attached to produce with Tripp Vinson.

I would love to see a disaster movie (not end-of-the-world related) done right. This could be good.

Sounds Cloverfield but with an Earthquake instead of a creature. Could be good if done well.

AFTERSHOCK (w/ Eli Roth) wasn’t horrible surprisingly. it wasn’t “great” by any means but it was semi-decent.
