Variety reports, “Warner Bros. and Dark Castle, the Joel Silver/Robert Zemeckis horror shingle, have tapped James Cox (“Wonderland”) to helm supernatural thriller “The Reaping.”
Story, based on a spec by Brian Rousso and penned by the team of Chad & Carey Hayes, is centered on a woman who debunks religious phenomena coming to a small town.
Silver and Zemeckis will produce through Dark Castle along with Susan Levin and Herb Gaines. Steve Richards and Erik Olsen are exec producing while Warner’s Jessica Goodman is overseeing for the studio.
“Joel and I were impressed with the sustained tension, look and compelling performances in ‘Wonderland,’ ” Zemeckis said.
Silver and Zemeckis launched Dark Castle in 1999 and have produced “Gothika,” “Ghost Ship,” “13 Ghosts,” “The House on Haunted Hill” and the upcoming “House of Wax.”
