Our friends at Collider are reporting that the creepy masks from Lionsgate’s upcoming slasher, You’re Next, have been popping up all over LA and NYC. Luckily, they’re only on inanimate statues for the moment, and not killers bent on making a bloody mess of a walk in the park. They’ve put together a collection of images of these masks out in the public, which can be viewed by clicking the aforementioned link. Don’t forget about this early promotional campaign that blew all of our minds.
Slashing its way into theaters August 23 from filmmaking duo Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett (A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S, V/H/S/2), the film reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. “When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.”
Here’s Fred Topel’s review out of TIFF 2011.
