The bells of Notre Dame are starting to ring as Hero helmer Zhang Yimou is in talks to direct Quasimodo for Warner Bros., Variety reports.
The film has been in development for Warners for some time with Oldboy‘s Josh Brolin attached to star.
“The classic Victor Hugo novel ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ follows a gypsy girl who is framed for murder, and only the deformed bellringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, Quasimodo, can save her.”
Kieran and Michele Mulroney penned the original script.
Zhang has made a career for his visual style and incredibly choreographed fight sequences in films like Hero and House of Flying Daggers.
