[Fantasia ’13] ‘Imaginaerum’ Is Visually Beautifully But Overstays Its Welcome

Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish delighted fans last year when they announced that their 2011 album Imaginaerum was going to be converted into a movie bearing the same name. The rich, playfully gothic tone of the music was going to be converted into engrossing, captivating visuals with a tender, heartfelt story.

While I was a fan of the album, the movie didn’t do nearly as much for me. In my review, I state, “It’s definitely something I’d recommend to fans of the band but for others it is best put on as background material.

I’ve always liked NW and especially now with Floor Jansen doing the vocals. She’s like the ultimate metal goddess. I have to torrent this sometime and watch it.
