Anchor Bay today announced that I Spit On Your Grave 2 will get its world premiere at this year’s UK FrightFest festival taking place at The Empire cinema in London’s Leicester Square on the 25th of August. This very special festival cut has been over-seen by the producers specifically for FrightFest 2013 and will be the first time the film will be screened to audiences anywhere.

The highly anticipated horror sequel will then release in cinemas before coming to DVD & Blu-ray October in the UK, September 24 in the States.

Promising British newcomer Jemma Dallender (“Community”) takes on the lead role, following in the footsteps of Camille Keaton, star of the 1978 original, and Sarah Butler in I Spit on Your Grave 2010).

Naturally beautiful, Jessica has just settled into New York where she, like many other young women, is trying to make it as a model. But what starts out as an innocent and simple photo shoot soon turns into something disturbingly unthinkable! Raped, tortured and kidnapped to a foreign country, Jessica is buried alive and left to die. Against all odds, she manages to escape. Severely injured, she will have to tap into the darkest places of the human psyche to not only survive, but to exact her revenge…

Once again, Steven R. Monroe returns to the director’s chair for the sequel based on a script from Saw IV writer Thomas Fenton and the co-writer of the 2010 film Neil Elman. Co-Stars Joe Absolom (Long Time Dead) and Mary Stockley round out the cast .

Meir Zarchi’s original became one of the most controversial films of all time and its 2010 remake became a critical and box office success.

Dead Mail SXSW Dead Mail interview

One of the genre films we’re looking forward to checking out at SXSW this year is Dead Mail, written and directed by Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy and premiering on March 9.

Meagan Navarro will be reviewing Dead Mail for Bloody Disgusting as part of her SXSW coverage, and she writes in her preview for the upcoming fest: “Dead Mail leans heavily into the ’80s analog aesthetic, delivering a unique crime thriller unafraid to get offbeat with its dark narrative. Expect its characters to be as atypical as Dead Mail‘s sense of style.”

In the SXSW 2024 horror film…

“On a desolate, Midwestern county road, a bound man crawls towards a remote postal box, managing to slide a blood-stained plea-for-help message into the slot before a panicking figure closes in behind him. The note makes its way to the county post office and onto the desk of Jasper, a seasoned and skilled “dead letter” investigator, responsible for investigating lost mail and returning it to its sender. As he investigates further, Jasper meets Trent, a strange yet unassuming man who has taken up residence at the men’s home where Jasper lives.

“When Trent unexpectedly shows up at Jasper’s office, it becomes clear he has a vested interest in the note, and will stop at nothing to retrieve it…”

Sterling Macer, Jr., John Fleck, Susan Priver, Micki Jackson, Tomas Boykin, and Nick Heyman star in Dead Mail. Preview the film with an exclusive image gallery below.
