Veteran scream queen Danielle Harris (Halloween) makes her directorial debut with the horror thriller Among Friends arriving on DVD, Digital Download and Video on Demand August 27 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment (cover art, trailer and stills).

Also starring Harris, the film features a murder mystery night gone awry for a group of friends when someone decides to use the evening for revenge.

We caught up with Harris and decided to do something a bit different – instead of a typical interview, we asked the Scream Queen to tell us her five favorite horror films, and why. So after watching Among Friends, you can theme your night and enjoy some of Harris’ fav. as well!

Poltergeist

“I was Carol Anne’s age about the time that I first saw Poltergeist. My mom bought me my first TV soon after and and every time I flipped by this static channel I’d freak out! I forget what the channel was, but it came right after 13!

I did a MOW directed by Jo Beth Williams husband, and when she came to set one day I totally freaked out.”

Gremlins

“This was the very first horror movie I ever saw! At the Drive-In actually!! My fiancé recently bought me a Gremlin that was used as a prop in the movie. Old school 3-D glasses and all!!! Now I just need Gizmo…and maybe Spike too…”

Piranha (1978)

“His movie would explain my fear of fish!! Joe Dante directed an episode of “Eerie Indiana” that I guest starred in and I just adore him!! Even though he scarred me for life as a child.”

The Descent

“This movie scared the crap out of me! I love bad ass chick movies and this is a gem. I’d never be able to be an actor in this movie bc of the small spaces, but I’d love to work with the director!”

Halloween (1978)

“Come on…you guys know I had to go there!!”

Good choices! I love Danielle Harris. She was most excellent in RZ’s Halloween films and her character seemed realistic enough to be brutalized by the senseless carnage of Myers.

doomas i agree! all great choices! Danielle Harris RULES! she’s fantastic (and gorgeous!). Annie’s death in H2 literally had me in tears. i look forward to seeing her AMONG FRIENDS!

Damn right :) H2 such an underrated film!

Danielle Harris not only gorgeous and talented but puts together a very solid top 5 list…i love the fact that she recognizes The Descent , that this film holds its own amongst the classics and has its place among them and the great horror of the 70′s and 80′s…

  • Skull-And-Crossbones

i gotta agree with doomas10 about her excellent performances in zombie’s halloween movies. she’s one of my favorite actresses. i can’t wait to see what she can do as a director. im glad Among Friends finally has a release date. i also wanna add that she has aging extremely well. in 1998 she played a college student, at the age of 21, in Urban Legend and then 9 years later, at the age of 30, she played a high school senior and pretty much looked the part. amazing!

I love her so much. :D I totally remember that episode of Eerie Indiana with her in it! She’s just amazing in everything she’s in. Definitely one of my favorite actresses ever.

    A cool top 5 list

I hugged her!!! Yes, i’m bragging! She rocks!

Good choices. POLTERGEIST and HALLOWEEN are 2 of my favorites .. of all times. THE DESCENT is another film I was surprised by and have since watched it numerous times.

Loved Danielle in the HALLOWEEN remake (although I am not a big fan of the remake) but was a bit disappointed when they brutally killed her in Zombie’s sequel.

Interesting choice but I was surprised Piranha was on her list. I’ve seen the film how could it be scarier than Jaws? Spielberg’s classic has kept me out of the ocean for years.
