Chilling ‘Abe’ Follows Soulless Serial Killer Robot; Watch the Haunting Short!

Deadline reports that MGM has acquired rights to make a feature out of Abe,” a short film by British writer/director/VFX artist Rob McLellan.

McLellan will write and direct the feature about a robot serial killer, and Kevin Misher and Steve Tzirlin will produce it.

We’ve actually embedded the insanely disturbing short below, which is brilliant in the idea that a serial killer has no soul – much like a robot…

Jonathan Glickman and Cassidy Lange will oversee for MGM and Andy Berman and Kevin Chang will oversee for Misher Films, which produced the Kimberly Peirce-directed Carrie for MGM and Screen Gems and is prepping a reboot of The Crow for Relativity.

Disturbingly chilly? I hardly think so.

I’ll admit, I like the concept, but got bored about a minute into the robot’s monologue, and skipped to the good part, only to be disappointed with an off-screen kill.

I love the deeper thoughts on serial killers in this short. What makes somebody kill over and over again? Damn, I am just in love with how this short explores this concept. Serial killers are much like robots. Searching for a soul that they will never obtain.

Yawn. Also how did she scream with her mouth duct taped? lol. I usually LOVE serial killer rants, but this just left me high and dry. Was waiting for Will Smith to kick his butt (I,Robot reference)
