Lamb Of God Responds To Malaysian Government Canceling Concert

The Malaysian government has denied a permit for metal band Lamb Of God to perform in their country, “…because the performances of the group were found to infringe on religious sensitivities and cultural values of Malaysian society” [Source]. This was done even though the concert had been on sale and over 1,500 tickets had already been sold.

Guitarist Mark Morton issued a statement regarding this decision: “It is very evident (and a bit frustrating) that the groups, parties and powers that have taken the most offense to our music and lyrics, have themselves only made a passing glance at the content and meanings of those songs. We would invite anyone offended by our music to engage in a discussion regarding the true motivations behind our work, especially before publicly slandering us based on assumptions and shallow misinterpretation.

We sincerely apologize to our amazing fans in Malaysia for the cancellation. Many thanks to all who have spoken out in support of us through this.

The band will play New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand.

I feel sorry for the fans that already and were going to get tickets. Lamb of god is one of my favorite bands and definitely should been seen at least once by metal heads.

The way I see it when something like this comes up with a band and their lyrics is the government taking the most offensive lyric or two and blowing it out of proportion. Then presenting that as their case against the band(s). Like Randy said, there are a lot deeper meanings to lyrics then what is on the surface…
