Vicious, Bloody ‘Maniac’ Slashes Into Stores This October

IFC will bring the tremendous Maniac to DVD and Blu-ray October 15. Special Features Include: Making Of, Poster Gallery, and Trailer.

As you can see by the cover, we really liked it. Read our extremely positive review here.

In the slasher redo, “Frank (Elijah Wood) is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates and the number of victims increases, it becomes clear that Frank is far more dangerous than he seems. With a pulsating electronic score by Rob, the film is an intimate, visually daring, psychologically complex and profoundly horrific trip into the downward spiraling nightmare of a killer and his victims.

A 21st century Jack the Ripper set in the present day, Maniac is a reboot of the cult film considered by many to be the most suspenseful slasher movie ever made.

Elijah Wood, Nora Arnezeder, Genevieve Alexandra, America Olivo, Morgane Slemp, Sal Landi, Dan Hunter, Freedom, Délé Ogundiran, Steffinnie Phrommany, Joshua De La Garza all star in the feature directed by Franck Khalfoun.

I know this is picky, but with all of the classic covers/posters they made, the cover of the blu-ray is kinda awful and generic. Why does he have a butcher knife??

Still can’t wait to pick this up. This was one of the best horror movies I’ve seen in a long time and I’ve been itching to watch it again!

couldn’t agree more, this doesn’t speak to the tone of the film at all. Good think I like to remake the cases in my movie collection.

    Wow… that is just… awful.

I already pre-ordered this and I can’t wait to get it, but this is such a freaking terrible blu-ray cover! There are so many awesome images and posters for this movie and they decide to give us this boring cut-n-paste cover instead.

i agree guys. awful poster! which is ridiculous since just about all the posters for the film (international & domestic) were stunningly beautiful.

that being said, the movie was excellent and it has one of the best musical scores i’ve heard in years.
