[BD Review] Don’t Underestimate Vin Diesel’s Passion For ‘Riddick’…

It was reported earlier this week that Riddick star Vin Diesel put his own house up to get the Pitch Black sequel off the ground, but was it worth the risk? Evan Dickson reports in with his thoughts on the David Twohy-helmed sequel that he says “gets back to the basics.”

“Riddick isn’t something I’d recommend to the average man on the street,” explains Dickson in his review. “In simpler terms, if you liked Pitch Black you’ll probably like this.

“Riddick might be a strange combination of Pitch Black, Chronicles and Jeremiah Johnson – but it’s also pure Vin Diesel. A force of nature and optimism that emerged from humble beginnings to become one of our most interesting action stars, it would be unwise to underestimate him. The same goes for this film.

The film, starring Diesel, Karl Urban, Nolan Funk, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine and Dave Bautista, is in theaters everywhere tomorrow.

It’s Vin Diesel’s pet project. Reportedly he almost lost his house producing Riddick, which I really respect. It’s not just because I’ve been a fan since Pitch Black, but the fact that he’s really putting himself out there, not just for himself, but listening to his fans and giving us what we’ve been wanting. As they say in poker, You gotta have balls to risk it all…

the sexual vibe/overtones thing that Evan mentions in the review i notice has been mentioned on other reviews for this too. interesting. i’m going to see this today and i hope it’s good! i really enjoyed PITCH BLACK but CHRONICLES looks atrocious so i skipped that one. i’m also thrilled awesome Katee Sackhoff is in this and she’s been getting good reviews by pretty much all the reviews i’ve read on the movie.

Pitch Black is awesome and am glad this one is in the same vein. I HATED the Chronicles of Riddick and was disgusted how inferior it was to Pitch Black. This is great news and will be checking this out now.
