[TV] “Under the Dome” Is Safe; “Sleepy Hollow” Begins Strong

There’s nothing worse than dedicating yourself to a series, only for it to canceled before it even gets to the second season (or even a finale). Two genre shows are safe, for now.

CBS’ “Under the Dome”, pictured above, wrapped its summer run Monday with strong 10 p.m. turnout while Fox’s frosh “Sleepy Hollow”, below, got off to a solid start in the 9 p.m. hour, reports Variety.

“Dome” concluded with 11.8 million viewers and 2.8 rating in adults 18-149, its highest demo score since July 29.

“Sleepy Hollow” grabbed 10 million viewers with 3.4 rating/9 share — a marked improvement over the debut the same week last year of Fox’s short-lived “Mob Doctor” (5.1 million, 1.5/4 in 18-49).

For now, it’s safe to get yourself immersed into both series.

many shows have started strong and then dipped so it doesn’t really mean anything. not to mention one is a genre show on Fox so its already on the fence. 😛

DOME has some cringe-inducing writing but i actually enjoy the show a lot (as a guilty pleasure). sadly it’s so much better than both DEXTER & TRUE BLOOD are currently. i haven’t watched HOLLOW yet but i don’t expect it to last the whole season. we’ll see, i guess.

The pilot felt hollow and made me sleepy; not one I will be continuing with.

just watched HOLLOW and it’s really good! i’m shocked! i’ll definitely be watching this show!

  • Still not 100% sold on Sleepy Hollow, but I did enjoy some of what I saw last night, so I’ll be sticking around for the next few episodes.

Under The Dome? I tried, but I had to give up on it. Too many cliched, stupid characters, boring episodes, and lousy writing. I tried to enjoy Under The Dome as a guilty pleasure, but that didn’t work (you are stronger than I am djblack! lol).

I couldn’t get into Dome, after reading the book a few years ago. They changed too much for the show.
I haven’t watched Hollow yet, will do so later tonight. I’m looking forward to it, but an skeptical because it’s on Fox and that hasn’t boded well for new shows over the past few seasons. Have to wait and see, I guess.

I’ve lost too much of my life to crappy tv series. I didn’t bother with Sleepy Hollow, but I wanted the first 3 episodes of Under the Dome and it’s craptastic. Couldn’t do more than 3 episodes. I’m out.
