Universal Pictures and ImageMovers are moving forward with their psychological thriller Demonologists and have tapped Jonathan Herman to pen the latest draft, THR learned.
“The story centers on a professor and scholar of Paradise Lost who accepts a free trip to Italy, where a demonic spirit appears to kill his daughter, and he must go on a dark journey of discovery in hopes of getting her back.”
Herman wrote a draft of a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds that Platinum Dunes is producing with Mandalay.
Universal acquired Andrew Pyper’s novel in manuscript form last year and set Robert Schenkkan to adapt.
ImageMovers’ Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Jackie Levine are producing.
Maradith Frenkel and Chloe Yellin are overseeing the project for the studio.
