This is unfortunate, even if it isn’t all that surprising. After not one, but two failed funding campaigns and a slew of controversy, including the arrest of one of the game’s developers for child pornography-related charges, Shadow of the Eternals hasn’t been without its problems.
In a post on the game’s forums, Precursor Games’ creative officer Denis Dyack confirmed the project has been put on hold for the foreseeable future as the team takes a break. More after the jump.
“For those who are not aware, we all worked on this project as a labor of love and self financed 100 percent of everything for a over a year to try to make Shadow of the Eternals a reality,” Dyack wrote. “Although we did not succeed on doing this, we succeeded in making many friends and starting something that we hope provided value for those involved. We have no regrets.”
“We have all agreed as a group that when and if the time is right we will get together and start it up again,” Dyack concluded.
Dyack said the project hasn’t been canned, so there’s some hope the promising — and long requested — game will still see the light of day.
