[Random Cool] I’m Eating Kuma’s “the Ghost” Burger This Weekend!

What’s the most wicked burger on the planet, you ask? Well, Chicago’s very own Kuma’s Corner is the talk of the town as the “Ghost” burger comes rocking a communion wafer to wash away your sins. If you think this delicious abomination would offend religious locals, you’d be 100% correct…

Catholic Charities said today it would not accept a $1,500 donation that a local restaurant has offered amid controversy over its new burger, which mocks the sacred Christian sacrament of Holy Communion, says the Chicago Tribune.

Kuma’s Corner began selling the burger, “the Ghost”, in recognition of the Swedish band Ghost B.C. But the menu item at the heavy-metal-themed restaurant in the Avondale neighborhood has offended many Christians, including those at Catholic Charities.

We have not received nor will we accept a donation from Kuma’s Corner,” said a statement from Kristine Kappel, director of communications for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Communion is a central part of the Catholic faith,” Kappel said. “We strongly urge Kuma’s to discontinue selling a burger that disrespects that faith and the faith of all Christians.

On its Facebook page, Kuma’s explained the burger “in the spirit of our undying reverence for the lord and all things holy.”

It listed the contents: A 10-ounce patty, chile aioli, braised goat shoulder, white cheddar cheese and two other special ingredients, “Red Wine Reduction (the blood of Christ) with Communion Wafer garnish (the body of Christ).”

After controversy erupted, Kuma’s announced the $1,500 donation, and said the menu item would remain for the rest of this month.

Luke Tobias, director of operations, told the Tribune on Friday: “We’re not trying to say anything against the church … and we kind of have to prove a point because we’re not taking the burger off the menu.

We’ll tweet live from our massive feast… see ya’ in hell!

In addition to Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Universal Monsters movie Wolf Man, Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) has also joined the cast of Weapons, THR has announced tonight.

Weapons is the new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), with Julia Garner joining the previously announced Josh Brolin (Dune 2).

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
