‘Oldboy’ Spot Promises A Twist That Will Shock You To the Core!
FilmDistrict released a new TV Spot for Spike Lee’s Oldboy, starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel Jackson, and James Ransone.
The spot promises that the twist will shock you to the core. Allegedly, for people who have seen the original, there’s some fresh goodies to boggle your minds…
In fact, according to Variety the crowd squirmed about in the AMC Lincoln Square theater from the graphic violence, but the film’s climactic twist moved many to audible discomfort.
“I’ve never been more shocked and surprised by an ending since maybe like The Sixth Sense,” said Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the film’s pivotal character. “No one spoiled it for me. No one hinted at it for me. And I got to experience it with just a blank canvas.”
In theaters November 27, Oldboy was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.
“Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of Joe Doucette (Josh Brolin), a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason. When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.“
Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.
Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things), Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.
The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).
Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.
Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.
Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.
In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
