Remedy wants us to know that while they are totally into the idea of an Alan Wake 2 — which may be made possible through crowd funding — they’re currently focused on their next project, the next-gen action game Quantum Break. If it happens, it won’t be for a while, but the future still looks appropriately bright for the franchise.
In a recent interview with Polygon, Sam Lake, Remedy’s creative director and lead writer, discussed the sequel we all would like to see. More after the break.
“We love Wake and we are constantly looking for opportunities and talking about possibilities of what we could do with Wake,” Lake told Polygon. “I would definitely love to do more Wake, but it needs to be something we absolutely feel is the right thing for Wake and that the bar is high enough.”
“This is really going to be cool, not just doing it at the cost of making something that’s not as top notch as it should be, so time will tell.”
They clearly care about the series and would like to continue it. The original has a definite following, but despite strong reviews, the series hasn’t been successful enough to guarantee a sequel. I hope Remedy is able to find a way to make this happen, because as a fan of Alan Wake, I would love to see more of it.
In related news, I’m playing the original game on our YouTube channel, if you want to check that out.
