Leaked ‘Alien: Isolation’ Art Features Ripley’s Daughter

Some leaked promo art — which may or may not be real — for the next entry in the Aliens series of video games, Alien: Isolation, shows off who we thought would be the lead character — Ellen Ripley’s daughter. It’s not much and there’s a definite possibility that it isn’t real, but if it is, I kind of like it. As a fan of the franchise I sincerely hope this next game doesn’t see the same treatment Colonial Marines did. I also hope that game didn’t hurt the brand too much.

The game is rumored to be in the works at Total War developer Creative Assembly. Enjoy what could be our first look at some of the game’s art after the jump!

It’s… Ripley Jr.!

I call bullshit. If this makes it, it will ruin the franchise in my eyes.

Alien: Resurrection ruined the franchise, then AVP, then AVP:R, then Prometheus, then Aliens: Colonial Marines…This will only be kicking a very dead horse.

        HOLD IT.

Alien Resurrection takes place 200 years after Alien 3, AVP + AVP: R + Prometheus makes 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines sucks so bad it equates to about 3 DNFs (Duke Nukem Forevers, the accepted unit of measurement for awful games) and it’s common knowledge horses love ménage à trois…

Forget this game, HALF-LIFE 3 CONFIRMED.

Its a bonehead move to make Ripley’s daughter the lead. She’s dead, very very dead. Even if she wasn’t, she was one pixelated image in one minute of originally cut footage. No one care’s about Ripley’s daughter.

This is an extremely lame attempt at forcing the game into the movie series. Just like shoving Hicks into the Colonial Marines game and that turned out real fucking well.

It should be a standalone story.

It’s too late for this. If Sigourney Weaver won’t be returning, there would be no point. And quite frankly, she’s probably too old by now to reprise the role again. If they were going to do this, it should have been hastened into production in the early 2000s. It’s too far-gone now. Drop the idea and move on.

  • I realize that for now this is conjecture but I feel that the series has suffered because of its over-reliance on ripley. The focus has always been on how can we get the leading lady back instead of “how can we deliver a great plot” or “what can we do differently with the alien”? You just Have to tie everything back to her. I haven’t played all of the games so as far as I know this would be the first game to have any connection to her (if it gets made), but does it even make any sense to have her daughter in it, a girl who according to canon lived and died between the first two movies?

I remember when Alien 3 came out and everybody threw a fit because Ripley died at the end. I think the sentiment was that the audience had been rooting for Ripley to survive throughout three movies and to see her die at the hands of the xenomorphs really pissed a lot of people off. ’90’s movies tended to be more character-driven and the thought was that if Ripley died, the franchise died with her.

The Alien franchise has become such a clusterfuck that even the most dedicated fans can no longer agree about what should be considered canon.

Alien 3 was brilliant, and by far the best film of the series. James Cameron’s cheesy 80’s action flick being the worst of the original 3.

I’ve always said that if Newt wasn’t killed off, I would have loved if they did a movie with her character as the lead.

So glad they had the guts to kill that brat.
