Slipknot And Drummer Joey Jordison Part Ways

In a brief statement on the band’s official website, Slipknot has announced that they have parted ways with drummer Joey Jordison. There is no mention on whether the band has a new drummer for their upcoming studio album, which guitarist Jim Root will be working on over the next few months.

Jordison has been working on several side projects, including his most recent band Scar The Martyr, who released their debut album this October.

Head below for the full statement.

To our Maggots and fans around the world,

It is with great pain but quiet respect, that for personal reasons Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways. We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds. We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future. It is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year. We hope that all of you will come to understand this, and we appreciate your continued support while we plan the next phase of the future of Slipknot.

Thank you,

The ‘Knot

Why does this website only ever report on metal and rock music? God, I know it’s a horror site but assuming all horror fans like obnoxious deafening music is worn out and annoying. There are other genres of music that have occasionally horror-esque and dark elements throughout them.

Actually there have been “hip-hop” artists covered on here in the past too.

What do you want them to cover? Country? Don’t be a whiny retard.

Hey Tomie, I would LOVE To cover other styles of music and I am always on the lookout for artists that dive into the darker aspect of things. I know that not all horror fans are into rock/metal, which is why I try to keep my ears open. If you see any that you think should be covered, shoot me a message on here or via Twitter. Thanks!

I know what your getting at but metal and hard rock are the genre’s that are most likely to have these themes. You say their are other genres of music that have *occasionally* horror- esque and dark elements. Occasionally is the key word, a band like Slipknot keeps it pretty consistent with songs and their image.

I dunno about you but I can’t think of another big “horror music scene” some young hip hop kids are raping about satanism but its just all for shock value/ they don’t know what their talking about. Only “horror core” hip hop group worth a damn right now is Death Grips imo.

ever heard of Twiztid?? they are the shit

The news doesn’t make any sense to me. Joey always called Slipknot his baby. I remember him saying they would move forward with or without Corey and now it looks like Slipknot is moving forward without him. Whatever the differences are this time around, they make it sound so permanent.
