In the beginning, three were created. Man made of clay. Angels made of light. And a third made of fire…

Opening April 4, 2014 from Detroit-based Exxodus Pictures and Freestyle Releasing is Jinn, the supernatural thriller written and directed by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad. Check out the official theatrical one-sheet to go along with a new still.

The pic stars Dominic Rains (“Flight 93”), Serinda Swan (USA’s “Graceland”), Ray Park (“Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace”), Faran Tahir (“Elysium”) and William Atherton (“Die Hard”). It was produced by Ahmad, Benjamin Dresser, Alan Noel Vega. Richard Mandell, Najam Syed and Shahid Syed executive produced the film for Exxodus.

The amazing story of Jinn involves ancient mythological beings that have rarely been explored in US cinemas. The premise of the Jinn concept, known to over 1 billion people around the world, involves ghost-like entities and revolves around creation mythology.

In the beginning, three were created. Man made of clay. Angels made of light. And a third made of fire. For centuries, stories of angels and men have captured the imagination and been etched into history crossing all boundaries of culture, religion and time. These two races have dominated the landscape of modern mythology, shrouding the evidence that a third was ever created. This third race, born of smokeless fire, was named the Jinn. Modern man has all but forgotten this third race ever existed. It is time for him to remember.

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds a little familiar?

This is word for word the opening of Wishmaster.

“Once, in a time before time, God breathed life into the universe. And the light gave birth to Angels. And the earth gave birth to Man. And the fire gave birth to the Djinn, creatures condemned to dwell in the void between the worlds. One who wakes a Djinn will be given three wishes. Upon the granting of the third, the unholy legions of the Djinn will be freed to rule the earth. Fear one thing in all there is… FEAR THE DJINN. “

You guys do realize that the djinn is a mythological creature from Islamic lore, right? I, for one, think this movie sounds cool. The first wishmaster was pretty good.

Could be cool. Love the logo design. It’s unique, which is good enough. Remember when horror movies had uniquely designed titles that were specifically their own and not the majority of garden variety font types you see being used nowadays.
