Warner Bros. Gave Up ‘Friday the 13th’ For This…

Back on June 5, 2013 it was revealed that Warner Bros. Pictures had given up their rights to Jason Voorhees to Paramount Pictures in order to (edit) “share” in distributing The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan’s next picture, Interstellar. The news was huge as it took Warner Bros.’ hand out of the Friday the 13th pot, giving Paramount the ability to move on the long-gestured 13th Friday the 13th. It was beyond huge for us horror fans…

Here we are six months later and Warners has already released a teaser from Nolan’s Interstellar, and I think it would be fun to see some footage from the film the studio wanted to badly they’d give up the rights to Jason Voorhees for.

The film opening in theaters November 7, 2014 stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, David Oyelowo, Wes Bentley, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, Topher Grace, David Gyasi, Mackenzie Foy, Bill Irwin, Timothée Chalamet, and Matt Damon.

A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

I’m sorry but I’d take a Christopher Nolan film over some Friday the 13th remake any day of the week! Interstellar is going to be the movie of the decade!

  • Kroork

Yawn…… No thanks, give me JASON!

  • djblack1313

Kroork, i agree. boring, pointless teaser. i’m not bashing this movie but it won’t surprise me they travel through the wormhole and can’t get back. the group then turns against each other, etc, etc, etc.

This seriously could’ve been an ad for a shoe. All it was missing was the Nike swoosh at the end. Dumb teaser.

I really like Nolan’s work but this teaser is pretentious as fuck!

Give me Jason, or give me death! I took yesterday off, fortified my living room with a 12’er, and watched, back-to-back, F13’s part 1 through Jason X. Good grief, everything beyond part 6 was pretty hard to sit through, even with the beers.

    • HorrorFancy

Lol. I cannot sit through Jason X at all.

      • ThunderDragoon

I feel the same way about Jason Goes to Hell.

        • diapers

Yeah… The only copy of Jason Goes to Hell that I have is an old VHS (gasp), that one of my roomates gave to me back in the day. I keep hearing that J.G.T.H’s only redeeming quality is the gore, but my copy seems to barely show any gore whatsoever. Maybe I have an edited down version.

When Jason X was released, I actually saw it on the big screen, and my (apparently diminished) memory of it was not so bad. But seeing it again was just abhorrent.

  • Kind of off topic, but The Dark Knight trilogy took Nolan’s resume to new heights. Although, I hate the trend of superhero movies now. It feels like everything is a brooding and dark character study about a troubled soul now, and it pisses me off to no end.

Anyway, Nolan’s name equals a bigger payday at the box office, so this doesn’t surprise me too much. As horror fans, we’re excited to see another Jason film, but there’s no guarantee for the masses sharing our enthusiasm.

Like inception was going to be? Dont overhype it dude. Its embarrassing.

  • Krug09

yawn. No thanks. bad teaser. Also some of the cast i dont like… Like Casey Afleck… jesus.

  • MaryOudeans

    That was a horrible teaser..

  • carlos.filipe

Anyone tell me when was the last good Friday the 13th? And after the escalating violence on the current horror movies, can they bring a good Friday the 13th with the same Jason and a few other hotties to kill? Highly unlikely… and Warner Bros realised that, specialy after the… humble and modest success of Nolan… i guess it was the easiest deal ever, lol. I know a lot of people did not like the imagination and creativity behind inception, i know its a lot to take… i have 3 words for ya… Freddy vs Jason… two more… Jason X.

    A) It looks like the original trailer for Man Of Steel.
    B) There is nothing on this planet creepier or stranger than seeing Walter Cronkite rubbing his palms together and giving off that weird creepy uncle vibe.
    C) If Matt Mc is at the center of the story it is either going to be interesting or horrible.
    D) meh… it’s Nolan, I will go see it.
