Joseph Gordon-Levitt Becomes ‘Sandman’ For Warners!

Deadline reports that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is finalizing a deal to produce Sandman at Warner Bros. with David Goyer, who pitched his treatment for the Neil Gaiman comic book classic.

It has been rumored that Gordon-Levitt might star, and the deal he’s making attaches him as the protagonist. In addition, he’s eyeing the project as a directing vehicle! Gordon-Levitt made his feature directorial debut on the well received Sundance pic Don Jon.

The “Sandman” series shifts between horror and fantasy, and the central character is Morpheus, the personification of dreams. After being held captive 70 years, Morpheus escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom while trying to adapt to the times.

Gordon-Levitt next stars in another seminal graphic novel-based film, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, which Robert Rodriguez and creator Frank Miller helmed.

this sounded good until i read the David Goyer wrote it. is this the ONLY person who’s allowed to “write” for these big movies (MAN OF STEEL, BLADE TRINITY, etc, etc, etc)??!! he’s pretty bad.

To be fair, he’s also done the Dark Knight Trilogy, Blade, and Dark City.

@Lonmonster, from what i hear (and don’t quite understand!) he got a writing credit for the first (Bale) Batman movie and then was credit (or something) with the other 2 while he didn’t really write very much of it? again, i don’t understand how all this “credit” stuff works but just reading comments (over on Comingsoon) from people who are huge Dark Knight fans (apparently). 🙂

..then was GIVEN a credit…(sorry forgot a word. lol). 🙂

@djblack1313 if you look at that imdb page yes he is credited whith a lot of shit. But its holloywood so if he wrote something and the head studio guy somewhere down the line doesn’t like something they got othere writers.
