[Sundance ’14] Full ‘The Raid 2’ Trailer Will Fight To the Death

The Raid 2 Banner

It was recently reported that Sony Pictures Classics and Stage 6 Films will release martial-arts sequel The Raid 2 in the U.S. on March 28, 2014, two months after its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

Today, the full international trailer was released, thankfully with English subs. It starts off a bit slow and builds into a blur of awesome action sequences. I am crazy excited for this, and Killers, both World Premiering at the fest this January.

“The Raid 2 starts where the first film ended, with Uwais’ character going undercover and infiltrating the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.

Sony Classics used the same pattern two years ago for the original The Raid with a Sundance showing and a U.S. release in March 2012.

Both films star Iko Uwais and were written and directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid, V/H/S/2).

This looks beautiful! It looks like it’s going to be more story-heavy too, which is never a bad sign in my books. The set-pieces also look even more spectacular! I can’t wait to see this.

Jeez, it seems they have increased the crime drama aspect of it. Brilliant! The fight sequences look – how is that possible – even more amazing than the first film and the characters unbelievably intriguing. This is going to rock!

I was interested in this after seeing the first trailer, but not anymore.

i liked the first trailer much more than this new one. i’m still excited for the film though.

I gotta say (as I LOVED the first Raid) this trailer made me a little less excited for the film. Too open, maybe I liked the claustrophobic–all in one building—feel of the first one sooo much more. There’s an awful lot going on in this trailer, and I could do without car stunts, just my take anyhow 🙂 Starts to go into the Tony Jaa world of things. With that said, I will absolutely be seeing this one.

Damn I’m glad I woke up today. This trailer is so smooth that you know is going bring the merciless action and gore. Only a few more months.

Can’t wait, the first one had some of the most badass and realistic martial action ever put on film

I just want to say that… GOD I’m wanting to see this movie. I have this page in my favorites and watch it every day. I’m literally in love with this hammer girl. And that baseball bat scene is just blowing me away. Thank you Bloody-Disgusting for bringing such a promising movie that shows how much passion and heart can bring anything into pure art. Gareth Evans is in one of my top favorite directors. Never give up man. You got talent that I wish and dream that I may someday have…
