Weird. Uproxx is reporting that David Lynch is gearing up to shoot new footage for “Twin Peaks“. Technically, it seems as though this is true. But if you’re a fan of the show I wouldn’t get too excited just yet.
While there are theories abound that this somehow ties into Laura Palmer’s 1989 promise (in the timeline represented on the show, not when the show itself aired several years later) to agent Dale Cooper that she would see him again in 25 years (ie 2014), I’m betting that this has more to do with the rumored Blu-ray boxed set that might hit shelves this year. As in, it might be a promo for it.
While other sites have suggested this may be the case, I feel the need to go the extra mile and point out that the Casting Call that proves the existence of this shoot says TWIN PEAKS PROMO in all caps right at the top. My guess is that it’s some sort of tie-in. It almost certainly isn’t anything huge or in-canon – why would they be so transparent about it if that’s the case?
Still, any new life for “Twin Peaks” is good new for me. Here’s hoping that Blu set happens in the near future.
“TWIN PEAKS PROMO. Directed by David Lynch. Shoots in Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Prob a 6 hour or less day. Rate is 150/8. You must live in LA to submit. I don’t think SAG has jurisdiction on this, so SAG and NON can submit. I have called SAG to double check this and I am awaiting a call back to confirm.
