Sources tell Bloody Disgusting that Twentieth Century Fox has landed on a Valentine’s Day weekend release for the Poltergeist remake (that’s actually a sequel).

Gil Kenan is currently lensing the film that will hit theaters February 13, 2015.

Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, Sam Rockwell, Kyle Catlett, Saxon Sharbino, and Jane Adams star in a revisionist take on the classic horror film where “a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.

David Lindsay-Abaire, Juliet Snowden and Stiles White worked on the screenplay.

It will never touch or come close to being as good as the original film!

    Sequel, remake, sequel, remake…

I’m all for this but as long as it’s scary, I love Poltergeist but I see it as an adventure movie, like half of Spielbergs movies.

Totally. For such an iconic horror film, it’s not really that scary. Unless you’re terrified of comically giant animatronic trees.

A lot of Tobe Hooper’s best films have been remade as of late (TCM, Salem’s Lot & now Poltergeist). I think the remakes thus far were mediocre; which is what happens when trying to improve upon good movies. Why not remake his lesser efforts (Funhouse, The Mangler, Spontaneous Combustion)? The remakes may turn out better & get the audience that the originals failed to receive. Those films have plenty to improve upon. That’s just me.
