Jose Padilha’s upcoming RoboCop remake is just around the corner, and Imax is taking the opportunity to remind us with their own version of the film’s poster. The aesthetic is much more in tune with the 1987 original, even displaying the prime directives.

While we know the film won’t have the gore and perhaps the satire of the original, I’m holding out hope that it will be good on its own terms. I’ll find out when I see it!

Sony’s forthcoming reboot stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Kenneth Williams, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Michael Keaton, and Aimee Garcia.

In theaters February 12, 2014, “the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

I seriously don’t know about this movie. Part of me looks at how its shot, the cast and the effects and wants to see it, the other part of me looks at the new suit and the PG-13 rating and breaks out in hives.
