‘Riddick’ Was Awesome. Universal Wants More Awesome.

I don’t really like Pitch Black or Chronicles of Riddick, but I’ll be damned if David Twohy’s Riddick wasn’t a giant bowl of kickass.

And even though it sort of quietly hit theaters, and looked like a guaranteed flop, it actually performed quite well (nearly $100m worldwide). Maybe it was because Vin Diesel starred, or maybe word of mouth was actually pretty positive (why wouldn’t it be, the movie was badass).

Being that Universal left Diesel and Twohy alone to make their R-rated picture, I’m beyond stoked that Uni is talking sequel.

I’m just excited, and happy, and I’m shouting out to you guys to say thank you,” Diesel tells fans on Facebook. “Universal just called me and told me that Riddick is number one on the DVD charts. There’s no way in the world Riddick would have been made without you guys, you know that. You guys have been a part of our page since 2012 and remember how arduous a road it was to get the movie made, and to make it rated R, and to do it with such a low budget. It’s a win for all of us and I really, really, really, really thank you so much.

He adds: “Yeah, I’m excited, and of course, Universal’s also saying they want to develop the next one.

I pray Universal understands that the film was great because they kept their grubby mitts off the pic and doesn’t get greedy with the fourth film.

Did you see Riddick yet? Thoughts? (And don’t say you hate it because you’re mad Batista won the Royal Rumble.)

I thought Riddick was fucking awesome! The creatures were great and when the bounty hunters show up and Riddick starts “ghosting” them it really shows how animalistic the character is

I love it!! Anything I say kinda feels like spoilers for those who haven’t seen it (shame on you) yet. But the whole slow build to the bounty hunters who all had great character personalities and Riddick himself kept the whole thing badass. I read somewhere (probably here) Diesel wanted to do two more after this one, so I’m happy for (mainly me) him this has all worked out… Seriously, this film is fun. See it if you haven’t.

I completely rated it. Kept the focus on Riddick. Quiet, confident, deadly. Waxed between being a survival story, slasher movie with a good dose of Pitched Black. Happily surprised considering what was on offer from “Chronicles”. Definitely worth a purchase.

Well lets hope they do something different for the next Riddick other than like the other but with different monsters and different bounty hunters. I liked Chronicles, but doubt they will go that way again, maybe have him doing some extremely dangerous mission of some sort in return for info on Furya (think that his home planets name).
But whatever they do the main thing is MORE RIDDICK!!!

I loved Riddick, as well as Pitch Black and Chronicles. Glad to hear that Universal is doing a sequel
