‘Sea Of Nooses’ Is Set In Japan’s Infamous Suicide Forest

Published

If you’re unfamiliar with the Aokigahara Forest that sits at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan, it’s probably for the best. The forest is eerily quiet, thanks to the density of its trees and an absence of wildlife. This quiet forest is where hundreds of people have visited to die since as early as the 1800’s. It’s reportedly the most popular place for suicides in all of Japan, with an average of 100 people claiming their lives there every year.

It’s so creepy, I listed it as a potential setting for a horror game a few years back. Now, one indie developer is taking advantage of its unnerving history with their first game, Sea of Nooses.

Sea of Nooses is a Unity3D Horror game inspired by the infamous Aokigahara forest located in Japan. The game will use mechanics similar to Slender: The Arrival’s Scrapbook, You’ll be able to Listen to audio tapes and view tapes collected off of dead bodies or Broken Camcorders

Watch through the life of Seicho Rye, a former police officer. In October of 2001, His sister went missing in the forest Aokigahara, An investigation revealed nothing at all and they later said that it must’ve been a suicide. Rye wanted to go back and investigate but his job got in the way. Months down the line he retired, He wanted to go back to the forest and document what he would find… he just wanted to find any evidence that his sister was either alive or dead.

In 2003 He finally set out to Aokigahara forest, he spent hours during the day and found nothing… till he got lost and night finally fell. The nooses on the trees began to fall and the eye’s began to pierce through the branches… a distant gunshot breaks the silence.

According to it’s developer, Sea of Nooses is not another Slender clone. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this in action. Bring on a trailer!

‘Alien Hunt’ – It’s an ‘Alien’ and ‘Predator’ Mockbuster Rolled into One! [Trailer]

While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on BD this morning.

This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes (The Bigfoot Trap, Painted in Blood) is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.

You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!

In Alien Hunt, “On a hunting trip in the wilderness, a group of siblings discovers an abandoned military outpost on their land, but is it what it seems?

“Their trip takes a sinister turn when they find themselves facing off against a relentless army of extra-terrestrial beings. Suddenly, the hunters become the hunted.

“The formidable squad of alien soldiers will stop at nothing to wipe out the enemy and in an all-out, brutal battle for survival, it’s kill or be killed in Alien Hunt.”

Barron Boedecker (Escape Pod, The Bigfoot Trap), Brent Bentley (The Perfect In-Laws, Haunt Season), Deiondre Teagle (The Visitor, Painted in Blood, Death Ranch), Chelsey Fuller (The Bigfoot Trap, The Silent Natural), Jesse Santoyo (A Nashville Country Christmas, Potter’s Ground), and Adam Pietripaoli (The Bigfoot Trap, The OctoGames) star.
