Sony’s ‘Goosebumps’ Characters Will Literally Leap Off the Page!

It’s kind of awesome to see a “Goosebumps” adaptation finally come into fruition. While the book series was slightly past my time, I know that my brother and his friends were obsessed with the series.

TheWrap reports Thursday evening that 16 year-old Israeli actress Odeya Rush (We Are What We Are) has landed the young female lead in Sony’s adaptation.

Jack Black has closed a deal to star in the feature adaptation of R.L. Stine’s popular book series, which is being directed by Rob Letterman (Gulliver’s Travels, Shark Tale).

In first ever plot details, Black will play Mr. Shivers, a Stine-like author whose scary characters literally leap off the page, forcing him to hide from his own creepy creations.

Rush will play Black’s quirky and mysterious niece, who teams up with her young male neighbor to battle the monsters unleashed from Mr. Shivers’ works.

I still have all my Goosebumps books in a box in my closet. This series was very important for developing my love of horror, fantasy and weird fiction! I even got to meet Mr. Stine at a book signing when I was around 10 or so and he was very kind. I hope this movie turns out to be great as I’m always ready for some good nostalgia.
